Definitely Take A Summer Day Trip To This Charming Town In North Dakota
North Dakota becomes an amazing place for recreation in the summer. It has so many great destinations for outdoor fun under the warm sun. That coupled with the state's plethora of charming small towns creates some awesome combinations. Here is one of the best of these. This town is in an incredible location with features that make it the perfect day trip destination this summer.
The small town of Walhalla is the second oldest town in the state. It was founded in 1845 before North Dakota even was a state!
Today, it has a population just under 1,000 and there are many historic buildings, sites, and places to visit all throughout town. There are also places like an amphitheater which hosts live performances and two historical parks that showcase the rich heritage of the area. Plus, they've got everything you need for a lovely picnic outdoors.
Walhalla has a fantastic bed and breakfast that also serves as a small cafe, the Sanctuary Guest House & Tearoom. This beautiful, older home has everything you need to extend your day trip into a weekend. With all that Walhalla has to see, you might need to!
The main draw to Walhalla is its proximity to two natural wonders: the Pembina Gorge and the Tetrault Woods. These stunningly scenic spots are great for anyone who loves the outdoors.
The Pembina River that flows through these places is great for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, or hiking alongside.
The sights you'll see while taking in the fresh air and exploring are out of this world. The entire area is simply gorgeous in every way.
Come fall, the forest becomes a vibrant canvas of color, and later the snowy hills become a popular ski destination. Walhalla is fantastic to visit year round and is one of the most charming small towns in the state. You really shouldn't miss a chance to go!
There are so many more things to see and do in Walhalla and you can check them out here.
