There's never a better time to explore New York than right now. One of our favorite things to do while traveling is to discover charming small towns we never knew existed. With the seasons changing, we've been frequently daydreaming about where we'll sneak away to next. Out in Cattaraugus County, you'll stumble upon a small town that has a population of less than four hundred residents. As someone who graduated from high school with roughly nine hundred other individuals, small towns with numbers like these intrigue me!
A highly underrated area of our state, here's why everyone who's reading this should take a trip to Ellicottville:
If you have heard of this small town, it's most likely because of the remarkable resort.
Holiday Valley Resort, a place many will come to enjoy during our colder months but is equally as wonderful to visit during the summer. The resort offers a variety of activities to keep guests busy from swimming pools to biking trails and unforgettable ski lessons, they have it all!
How to get here: 6557 Holiday Valley Road Ellicottville, NY 14731
Another feature of Ellicottville and Holiday Valley? The Sky High Adventure Park!
Ready to have the time of your life? At Sky High Adventure Park that's exactly what you're in for! The adventure park features an aerial course made up of bridges and platforms that you'll explore. If you're afraid of heights you can either sit this part of the getaway out or face your fears with friends and family!
Our favorite part of the park? The Sky Flyer Mountain Coaster. This nearly 5,000 foot long roller coaster that's built into the mountain is one of the most fun rides you'll ever experience! To see what it's like to ride the mountain coaster, watch the video below:
After tiring yourself out at Holiday Valley, you'll love to unwind at the Winery of Ellicottville.
Just opening its doors 6 years ago, this unique winery has become a favorite addition to the town. Using local grapes and natural ingredients, you won't mind ending your day here with a glass in hand.

If you're not in the mood for an adult beverage then perhaps Watson's Chocolates is more up your alley!
If you're from anywhere out towards our Western region of New York, then you may be familiar with the fact that we love Sponge Candy and that Sponge Candy is a thing. Originating from Buffalo, you can find these tasty treats in town at Watson's Chocolates! Another thing, this place has pure milk chocolate buffalo wings. Yum!

If you're looking to take a quick day trip to this small town and won't have time to take an adventure to Holiday Valley, you can enjoy the small but breathtaking Nannen Arboretum.
The eight-acre park may not be as large as some of our favorite parks to visit in New York, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in unique quality. Made up of beautiful gardens, bridges and peaceful spaces, you'll love getting back to nature while you explore this hidden treasure.

An exciting getaway like this can often feel draining, relax yourself at Ellicottville's Salt Cave And Halotherapy Spa.
