Hike Through A Hidden Forest Then Dine At A Small-Town Cafe On This Delightful Adventure In New York

Explore the Giant Mountain Wilderness Area in New York and enjoy a rewarding meal at the Noon Mark Diner.

If you're looking for an awesome way to experience some of the Empire State's stunning natural beauty, as well as its charming, small-town hospitality, lace up your hiking boots, pack some snacks, and hit the road for a small town adventure in New York.

Your first stop is the Giant Mountain Wilderness Area near New Russia.

You're looking for the Ridge Trail trail head.

The 6.1-mile Ridge Trail starts out easily enough.

But trust us when we tell you to bring plenty of water, snacks, and sturdy shoes. You may want trekking poles, as well.

Eventually, the trail will fork, and the Ridge Trail will continue to the right.

It will become steeper, and incredibly rugged, covered in rocks and roots, in places.

The Ridge Trail is moderate to difficult, and you will encounter considerable elevation gain.

But the views on the way up make it all worthwhile.

And when you hit the marker for the Giant Mountain summit...

...and look out across a sweeping panorama of the Adirondacks, you may feel nothing but elation.

Until, of course, you have to head back down.

But your descent will also be rewarded - with scratch-made comfort food at the Noon Mark Diner.

It's located in Keene Valley, just a few minutes from the trail head.

The cozy diner is popular with locals and visitors, including hikers, alike.

And the massive portions are certain to refuel your energy.

With burly burgers, hearty sandwiches, and big breakfasts, you're certain to find something to satisfy.

And you can top it all off with a slice of the diner's famous pie.

Visit Noon Mark Diner's website to see its menu or to learn more about the eatery.
