With the month of November almost entirely behind us, many of our residents have begun to start thinking about what winter getaway they'll take this year. Up north where the snow falls early, one of New York's amazing Adirondack towns has so much to offer during our coldest season. Recently recognized by Expedia, Lake George was named one of America's coziest mountain towns that you're absolutely going to want to visit this year.
Up in Warren County with a population of under 4,000 residents, the town of Lake George is one that's beautiful to explore during all of New York's seasons.
On Expedia's list of America's Coziest Mountain Towns, Lake George came in at number seven out of seventeen towns that were named!
The The Inn at Erlowest was recognized as being one of the best places you can stay in town, giving you a stunning view of the lake.
The Inn at Erlowest is a historic stone castle that sits on a hill that overlooks Lake George, built in the late 1800s this place is unlike anything you'd expect to find in the area. When and if the weather gets cold enough, Lake George is like a scene out of a Disney movie when completely frozen over. If you're a fan of ice fishing you can visit popular spots like Million Dollar Beach or the Hearthstone Campgrounds to get out on the water. If you're not into ice fishing, you can always take on one of the many hikes you'll find surrounding Lake George like the trail at Prospect Mountain. The out and back trail up the mountain falls just under three miles long, a moderate hike that gives extremely rewarding views of the lake from up top!
