One Of The Largest Pumpkin Patches In New York Is A Must-Visit Day Trip This Fall

Looking for a fun day trip in New York this fall? It's hard to beat a pumpkin patch. When it comes to these iconic symbols of Autumn, there are plenty to choose from around the state. One, however, is a bit more special than many others. That's right, we are talking about Awald Farms and W&J Awald Farms in North Collins, New York. In the summer, one outpost of the farm has, in the past, been a great place to pick berries (it was not open in 2023). In the fall, though, the 2195 Shirley Road location of Awald turns into a giant pumpkin farm—and we do mean giant! The farm is known for cranking out huge pumpkins. There's plenty of activities to do at nearby W&J Awald Farms, too. It's fun for the whole family, and it might just be the best pumpkin patch in Erie County, New York. To learn more, keep reading below!

Awald Farms calls itself the Giant Pumpkin Patch. They aren’t lying! The patch is home to over 900 “giant pumpkins,” some of which are almost 200 pounds! Visitors can select from one of the huge varieties, or more “regular-style” pumpkins.

Awald Farms is celebrating 40 years of bringing some of the biggest and best pumpkins to New York State. There is no better year to pay the farm a visit and take part in the celebration.

Nearby W&J features a ton of great activities for the whole family. There’s a game tent, there’s hay rides, there’s a corn cannon, and there’s even a giant maze.

W&J Awald farms is open daily, seven days a week, 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., all the way until October 31st.

That means rain or shine.

There are plenty of great and tasty gifts to pick up at the farm.

Don't go home empty-handed, pick up a pumpkin. It doesn't have to be 200 pounds!

No matter where someone might be located in New York State, a trip to Awald Farms and W&J Awald Farms is a trip worth making. While in the area, why not make the trip over to Buffalo and check out Salvatore's Italian Gardens, which might just be the most unique restaurant in all of the city. And, for those looking for a place to stay around the pumpkin patch, we recommend The Fields of Eden Inn, which is less than five miles away from the town.
