Enjoy A Stroll On A Beautiful Path Along This Iconic New York River

With the spring fast approaching, we think that it's time to start thinking about strolling. And though there is no shortage of places to take a nice walk in New York State, those in the Rochester area would be remiss if they didn't check out the Genesee Riverway Trail. It's a nice, easy way to enjoy both the city and its great waterway. We think it might be one of the best river walks in New York State. To learn more, keep reading, below.

The Genesee Riverway Trail is a paved trail that runs along the Genesee River for around six miles. The trail is great for biking, walking and running, and comes complete with some really great views of the river.

The flat trail is great for all skill levels and takes around two hours to complete in total. The trail starts in the city of Rochester and moves into the towns of Gates and Chili. It finally ends in the town of Sweden, New York.

The trail gives pedestrians the ability to walk alongside the Genesee River, its scenic gorge, three waterfalls, eight pedestrian bridges and a whopping eleven parks.

The Genesee Riverway Trail makes for a perfect day trip. It’s also the site of a number of interesting historical locations, among them the Mount Morris Dam and the Erie Canal.

The trail is one part of a larger 24-mile trail that brings together nine historic districts and individual landmarks.

This pet-friendly walk is a great way to take in the history of Rochester.
