During New York's warmest seasons you'll often hear us encouraging others to get outside and enjoy the outdoors, but during the wintertime, we fully understand the importance of finding a good place indoors to cozy up inside. Instead of making a cup of hot chocolate for yourself at home, try visiting one of these ten fantastic towns around our state that are nothing short of marvelous to visit during this time of year. See for yourself!
1. Seneca Falls
A small town out within Seneca County that sits just west of the northern shores of Cayuga Lake, Seneca Falls is magical to experience during the wintertime. Each year, Seneca Falls hosts their annual It's A Wonderful Life festival - celebrating the fact that the town is said to be in the inspiration for Bedford Falls. The festival this year will run from December 6th through the 9th, a great weekend to plan a trip to this one area of the Finger Lakes for.
2. Wilmington
One of many mesmerizing places that you can visit during the winter within the Adirondack Park, Wilmington has so much to offer visitors who are looking to cozy up this winter. In the town of Naples, you'll be surrounded by the countryside, with plenty of quaint shops and restaurants to visit on Main Street in town. During the beginning of the winter season, the town transforms into A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, creating their own Dickens Christmas in Skaneateles. On the weekends that the Dickens Christmas is being celebrated, you can find Charles Dickens characters walking around town and local restaurants and businesses hosting exciting events that tie into the holiday season.
