The Unique Day Trip To Stone Quarry Hill Art Park In New York Is A Must-Do
Stone Quarry Hill Art Park in Cazenovia offers a unique outdoor experience with its open-air art gallery and scenic trails.
If you're looking for a unique outdoor activity in central New York, we've got a great one for you! Stone Quarry Hill Art Park is a 104-acre park in Cazenovia. It's got miles of trails and strives to bring out the beauty in the central New York landscape through the placement of unique sculptures. It is an open-air art gallery like no other! The park's goal is to make living art that becomes a part of the natural world and complements it.
This is such an eclectic place. It is located on the grounds of an 18th-century farm that was purchased by the Art Park's founders in the 1950s.
Many of the sculptures were created by Dorothy Riester, one of the founders of the park. The rest of the pieces are a rotating collection.
The Art Park has an Artist in Residence program that invites artists from all over the world to come visit. The artists then create sculptures that complement the natural landscape.
The sculptures are unlike any you'll see in most galleries. Their placement amongst the natural beauty allows even non-artists to appreciate the lines and curves.
Trails throughout the park are well-marked, and there are maps you can take at the entrance. There's even an audio tour you can listen to as you walk.
Stone Quarry Art Park makes for a great picnic spot! The grounds are so large that there is plenty to explore, and there's no limit about how long you can stay. It's open every day of the year!
