Get an early start, because you'll want to catch the sunrise at Princeton Battlefield State Park.

This Revolutionary battlefield is often overlooked in favor of Washington's Crossing or Monmouth, but it was the site of an important skirmish in the war. It's beautiful in the early morning light.

Stop for a bagel on the way up north, and then come stretch your legs at the Ken Lockwood Gorge.
