Enjoy The Simple Life When You Visit This Tiny Rural Community In Nevada
Panaca, Nevada is a charming small town known for its friendly residents, unique prohibition on alcohol and gambling, and nearby Cathedral Gorge State Park.
Panaca, Nevada is a small town in eastern Nevada that's almost in Utah. The population of this small town is just around 1,000 residents. It was originally founded in 1857 as a Mormon settlement by scouts sent out by Bringham Young himself. As a result, it was not only the first permanent settlement by European Americans in southern Nevada, but it's one of few places in the state where gambling is illegal, and it's the only municipality in the state where alcohol is not sold.
There are a number of historical buildings in Panaca and visitors come to this tiny rural town to enjoy its warm springs and its striking rock formations in nearby Cathedral Gorge State Park. It's a lovely place for a short getaway!
This town is quite small but it still has a number of small businesses to serve the people who live there. Panaca Market is the center of the action in town on Main Street.
Of course, there's also a post office, an elementary school, a middle school, a high school, and two parks. There's also a fire department and the Lincoln County Fairgrounds are here, too.
The homes in Panaca range from quite old to rather new, and there is quite a mix in the styles of architecture that you'll see.
Pioneer Park has sports facilities, a shaded playground, and picnic areas.
La Cocinita Goyis is one of the only places to eat in town. Fortunately, this Mexican food truck is excellent!
Outside of town, you'll find sprawling desert, but it's all really quite beautiful.
Cathedral Gorge State Park is the biggest draw for tourism in the area. It covers almost 1,800 acres and it's full of striking rock formations like this one.
There's a campground in the park if you're looking for somewhere to stay while visiting Panaca.

And, due to the immense darkness of this rural area, you'll also see incredible night skies like this.
If you'd rather sleep in a bed, then you might like saying at the quaint Pine Tree Inn.
The Cathedral Gorge Inn is another excellent accommodation option.
Northeast of town, you can hike to Teapot Arch.
Or, you can visit and swim in Panaca's Warm Springs near there as well.
