Sanders Family Winery, 3780 E. Kellogg Road, Pahrump

This first Nevada winery was established in 1988 by Jack Sanders.

There are, in fact, two vineyards on the property. The east block contains Zinfandel grapes while the west block is planted with Petite Sirah grapes; both of which require custom hand harvesting and crushing.

Visitors can enjoy informative tours, delicious tastings of its award-winning, and gorgeous scenery.

Pahrump Valley Winery, 3810 Winery Road, Pahrump

This delightful winery is located in the middle of the Mohave Desert and is Nevada's largest and most popular winery.

Proprietors and vintners Bill and Gretchen Loken have run the winery since 2005. Impressively, since 2008, their wines have won over 325 national awards including Double Gold for Nevada’s first-ever Primitivo wine.

With five acres and over 1,500 vines--as well as its Zagat-rated Symphony's Restaurant--stunning and picturesque views provide a tremendous backdrop for weddings, wine tastings, and winery tours.

Queensland Vineyard Bed & Breakfast, Hwy 264 (between mile markers 8 and 9), Dyer

This charming vineyard is also a lavender and alfalfa farm as well as a three-room bed and breakfast lodge on the Bill Hartman Ranch in Fish Lake Valley.

The vineyard contains eight varieties of wine grapes along with four varieties of fragrant lavender with plans for expansion in the near future.

Visitors who stay during harvest time are treated to tastings. Guests can also make arrangements to taste Queensland Vineyard wines produced at the Pahrump Valley Winery.

Churchill Vineyards, 1045 Dodge Lane, Fallon

This gorgeous vineyard is located on the historic Frey Ranch at 4,000 feet above sea level. The dramatic temperature changes provide aromatic and tasty grapes which create very well-balanced wines.

This stunning vineyard is the only Nevada winery that features Nevada-grown, produced, and bottled estate white wines.

Churchill's vintner Colby P. Frey is a fifth-generation Nevada farmer with an intimate knowledge of grapes and incredible success in his craft.

Sadly, the Tahoe Ridge Winery in Carson City has recently closed.

Nevertheless, this picture perfect winery road trip provides an excellent weekend escape to sample Nevada's best wines. Have you visited any of these gorgeous wineries and sampled their award-winning wares? Please share your experiences below.
