Read on to learn which month of the year you should visit each of these wonderful Nevada towns.
1. January - Incline Village
Northern Nevada is a winter wonderland each year in January, and nowhere is this truer than in Incline Village. This small town hugs Lake Tahoe and nearby Mount Rose, giving visitors stunning 360-degree views that wows the senses even during the coldest month of the year. Enjoy all that winter has to offer, from skiing at Diamond Peak Ski Resort to free sledding at Tahoe Rim Trail Head or Spooner Summit. It's a wonderful town to bring in the new year.
2. February – Lovelock
February is the month for lovers and the perfect time for you and your sweetheart to visit the quaint town of Lovelock, Nevada! Located along the Cowboy Corridor, this small and historic Nevada town has plenty to love, including Lovelock Cave, the Thunder Mountain Monument, and most romantically, Lovers Lock Plaza.
3. March - Caliente
Visiting the southeastern Nevada town of Caliente just makes sense in March, otherwise it might get too hot to handle! Jokes aside, visiting Caliente in the spring will make a trip to places like the Valley of Fire State Park and Basin Range National Monument for amazing natural arches and ancient petroglyphs. The town boasts an unfathomable array of things to do outdoors as well as inside, so don’t pass up this wonderful Nevada destination.
4. April - Wells
It’s time to head north to the scenic town of Wells, Nevada come April. Enjoy the bounty of the season, blooming flowers, and gorgeous views at Angel Lake. It has its own scenic byway that offers travelers and explorers amazing views, as well as fishing, hiking, animal spotting, as well as photography opportunities. In town, see historic architecture and learn all about the rich past of Wells at the Trail of The 49ers Interpretive Center.
5. May - Rachel
Nevada is no stranger to the odd and unusual. If you’re looking for a place that’s unlike anywhere else on earth, head to tiny town of Rachel, Nevada. Known as the "UFO capital of the world," this is the closest town to the infamous Area 51, and it shows! Visitors like you will be able to see the Little A’Le’Inn and the Alien Cowpoke Gas & General Store. Taking a trip along the lonely Extraterrestrial Highway in the summer can be daunting, making a trip to Rachel in the month of May simply astronomical.
6. June – Ely
Embrace summer and sunshine in the mountain town of Ely, Nevada! Sink into the wild west as you take a trip to the East Ely Railroad Depot Museum and hop aboard a historic train car! Or, take in the dazzling Hotel Nevada and Gambling Hall as it lights up the night. With plenty to do and see, Ely is a perfect summertime destination in Nevada.
7. July - Boulder City
Once a camp to accommodate the hard workers constructing the famous Hoover Dam, Boulder City in Nevada has grown into a fun town of its own! Visit in July to beat the heat at Lake Mead, where travelers can take a wonderfully scenic cruise or even dip their toes into the refreshing water. With nearly 70 murals and a historic downtown, you won’t soon run out of exciting things to do in Boulder City, Nevada!
8. August - Fallon
Founded in 1908, the north central town of Fallon, Nevada is simply bursting with things to do in August! Head to the Fallon Cantaloupe Festival to celebrate the region’s love of food and drink. For outdoor enthusiasts, find your adventure in Grimes Point Archaeological Area. "The Oasis of Nevada" is calling your name!
9. September – Genoa
Doesn’t a Candy Dance just sound delightful? Enjoy the sweeter side of life by planning a trip to the pretty town of Genoa, Nevada in September! Known as the state’s oldest town, Genoa is small town vibes as its best. Spend an afternoon frolicking in the Mormon Station State Historic Park or pop over for a drink at the vintage Genoa Bar and Saloon. Whatever you choose to do, Genoa, Nevada is sure to leave a lasting impression.
10. October – Searchlight
Travel about an hour south of Las Vegas and you’ll come across the impressively small town of Searchlight, Nevada. With a population of less than 500 residents, Searchlight’s claim to fame lies in its rich history. Explorers to this remote town will find remnants of the old mines while kayakers will enjoy the close proximity to the Colorado River. Adventurers can even see a real ghost town and the Wee Thump Joshua Tree Wilderness for breathtaking views of ancient trees.
11. November - Beatty
Situated on the precipice of Death Valley, the central Nevada town of Beatty
beckons visitors to see its beautiful landscape, drink in its art, and indulge in old west eats. Beatty is home to none other than Death Valley National Park, the remarkable Goldwell Open Air Museum, and the characteristic Happy Burro Chili and Beer. 12. December - Virginia City
December is the month for lights glowing bright during cold and shorter days. Visit the charming and historic town of Virginia City
