This Sandhills cattle ranch is the real deal. Whether or not there are guests on site, the Rowses are still out there every day, tending to the herd.

If you're in the mood for a rugged cowboy adventure, this is the place to find it. The ranch is absolutely beautiful in the way that only a Sandhills cattle ranch can be.

Guests stay in one of the log cabin rooms, each of which comes with a private bath, a coffee bar, and a fridge. Don't expect the Ritz-Carlton, but set your sights higher than you might expect for a log cabin on a cattle ranch.

The rooms are comfortable and outfitted with nice linens and rustic western decor.

Your bed may become your new favorite place after each long, hard day of ranch work. In keeping with the many personal touches all throughout the ranch, the headboards were actually handmade by Tammy Rowse.

Gather up in the main lodge with other guests at mealtimes or just to chat and relax. Laundry facilities, wi-fi, and satellite TV are also available in the lodge.

Don't expect to have a whole lot of lounging time, though. This is a working ranch, after all, and there is work to do each and every day. Upon arrival you'll be matched up with one of the well-behaved horses. This will be your horse for the whole time you're here, so you'll have time to bond and get to know one another.

Whether you're an experienced rancher or you've never been on a horse, you'll feel like you belong on this team. Jerry, the ranch boss, will make sure you feel comfortable and learn the basics before setting out for the first time. They only accept a small number of guests each week to ensure that no one gets lost in the crowd.

Depending on the time of year and the business needs of the ranch, guests will participate in activities like branding calves, checking fences, putting out salt, sorting pairs, roping, and other routine chores. This is no spa retreat, nor is it the kind of place where you'll want to just lie around all day. This is where you go to experience real, hands-on ranching life.

After a long day of cowboy adventures, you'll be ready for a hearty meal. Tammy cooks up delicious food in large helpings, and most dietary restrictions can be accommodated. If you leave the table hungry, it's your own fault!

Rowse's 1+1 Ranch is an adults-only establishment. People come from all over the world to stay here and have a cowboy adventure. The experience is totally unlike what you'll find at a hokey dude ranch; this is honest-to-goodness (albeit temporary) cowboy life.
