This Tiny Drive In May Just Be The Best Kept Secret In Montana

RB Drive-In in Helena, Montana, offers a nostalgic dining experience with a variety of classic American foods and signature shakes.

Do you have fond memories of growing up visiting old school drive-in restaurants? Classic drive-ins are few and far between these days, but luckily, you'll still find a few here in Montana. Helena's RB Drive-In has been going strong for the better part of a century.

The roots of RB Drive-In date back to 1928, when it sold cigarettes, root beer, and eventually, chicken noodle soup.

In 1945, it was a well known root beer stand, using World War II sugar rations.

These days, you can eat inside at the small dining area...

... or, you can still get carside service like the good old days.

The menu here is simple but surprisingly expansive, given its size.

You can enjoy a variety of burgers, hot sandwiches, fish and chips, chicken strips, and even finger steaks.

As you might suspect, the burgers are delicious and reasonably priced.

If you're starving, get a double or a triple cheeseburger.

But whatever you end up ordering for lunch, make sure you wash it down with one of RB's signature shakes.

They're amazing and usually made with fresh ingredients (like blueberries when they're in season).

RB Drive-In is open year-round, daily from 11-8.

You'll find this charming eatery at 932 Helena Ave.

Here in Montana, we love preserving our local history. These old restaurants have all stood the test of time.
