Kansas City and St. Louis draw in the most out-of-state and out-of-town visitors in Missouri, but if we're being honest, we have a whole lot more to offer than just those towns. St. Charles is one of those magical towns that is impossible to simply just drive by, as it has so much history and attractions to offer. In fact, it may be the best small town in Missouri!
St. Charles in Missouri is the 9th largest city in the state and is located just under 30 miles west of St. Louis.
There are so many wonderful things to do in St. Charles whether you're here for a day trip or a weekend getaway.
One of the neatest things about St. Charles, is that the town served as the final embarkation point for Lewis and Clark during their expedition. In 1804, St. Charles became the first permanent European settlements on the Missouri River and one of the first permanent settlements in the state.
It has a thriving historic downtown filled with restaurants, antique shops, cafes, boutiques and more.
The town is also situated right along the Katy Trail, Missouri's 264.5-mile rail trail. Hop on your bike or enjoy a beautiful stroll away from traffic with friends or family.

Spend the night at Boone's Colonial Inn. This beautiful antique bed & breakfast is on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the most beautiful spots to stay the night at when in St. Charles, one of the most charming towns in Missouri.
The Greater St. Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau is located at 230 S. Main Street in St Charles, Missouri. Once here, you can find out more information about tours or just walk around the town's beautiful historic downtown yourself.
