People all across the state are crossing their fingers in hopes of a white Christmas this year. While many states east of Missouri have already had their first snow fall for the season, we're still anxiously awaiting the first flakes. In the meantime, reminiscence about winter weather with these 10 enchanting towns that feel like you've fallen into a snow globe.
1. New Town in St. Charles
St. Charles's New Town is one of the most picturesc places in the Show Me State. This little community really goes all out decorating for the holidays. However, even with just a dusting of snow New Town looks like a scene from inside a snow globe.
2. St. Louis
The Gateway Arch is positively magical but add snow and the monument truly dazzles. St. Louis looks so serene covered in a blanket of snow.
3. Fulton
The small town of Fulton is already a charming little town and a great place for a getaway. However, after a dusting of snow this mid-Missouri town shines as a winter wonderland.
4. Clarksville
Located on the Mississippi River, Clarksville is great winter destination for eagle watching. One a snowy day with eagles gliding across the sky you may just forget you're actually in Missouri.
5. Columbia
Travel to Mid-Missouri for a mesmerizing snowy getaway. Whether you love hitting the trails on a snowy day or walking through a snow covered college campus Columbia has more than one magical winter spot.
6. St. Joseph
Another beautiful river town will whisk you away to a wintertime oasis. Situated on the Missouri River, St. Joseph looks positively magical from a snow covered hill located high above the city.
7. Independence
Independence is the birthplace to American westward migration. Historic buildings and homes from the 1800's still stand in Independence making it a great place for a weekend trip. These beautiful buildings are only enhanced by a beautiful snowfall making wintertime the perfect time to plan a trip.
8. Hannibal
Hannibal, the boyhood home to American author Samuel Clemens, is immortalized in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Yet, this quaint little river town seems more like a work of fiction than a real live place after a fresh snowfall. Visit Lover's Leap and take in the sights of Hannibal under a dusting of snow.
9. Cape Giradeau
Cape Girdeau is a hilly little historic town that sits on the banks of the Mississippi river nearly 2 hours south of St. Louis. From the top of Common Pleas Courthouse you can see all of historic Cape covered in snow.
10. Springfield
Visit Sequiota Park in Springfield for a winter scene straight out of a snow globe. This little winter hideaway is a favorite of both fowl and friend.
