The United States is brimming with charming small towns, many that are virtually unheard of outside of locals and those who live in the state. O Magazine recently released its list of the top 60 charming yet little known small towns that deserve a visit – as soon as possible. The enchanting town of Sainte Genevieve in Missouri came in at 47 on the list.
If you’ve never been to Sainte Genevieve or if it’s been a while, you’ll definitely want to plan a day trip or a weekend getaway to this charming small town, the oldest in Missouri, that’s home to just under 4,500 people.
Sainte Genevieve is perhaps best known for its wineries, which tally more than a half of a dozen. Explore some of them by hopping on the Sainte Genevieve Trolley.
For a one-day fee of $20, you can hop on and off the trolley as you visit as many wineries as you want (that the trolley visits, of course.) Consider joining a group winery tour, too.
Carve out time to explore the eclectic stores that dot the town, too. You’ll discover everything from custom t-shirts and jewelry to honey and essential oils.
The charming town also boasts some really unique attractions, including Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary. Reserve a spot on a tour, where you’ll get an up close view of the resident tigers.
Definitely visit Sainte Genevieve during the summer, especially if you love water parks. Sainte Genevieve is home to River Rapids Waterpark, which features slides, a lazy river, and a wading pool.
Sara’s Ice Cream, an old-fashioned soda fountain, is also a must visit when you’re in town, which is also home to an eclectic collection of restaurants.
