The Incredible Road Trip Through Mississippi That Leads You To 6 Stunning Lakes

Don't let summer pass you by without paying a visit to at least one of these lakes in Mississippi. In fact, we'd recommend trying to see them all! This epic road trip takes you to the shores of six of our favorite lakes in Mississippi. Gas up the car, grab your swimsuit, and let's hit the road!

1. Bay Springs Lake

Starting off strong, you can’t go wrong with a day at Bay Springs Lake. This reservoir on the Tenn-Tom Waterway stretched for nearly nine miles. Often overshadowed by Pickwick Lake, Bay Springs Lake is perfect for folks who want to escape the crowds.

2. Lake Lamar Bruce

This 300-acre lake in Lee County is known for its epic fishing (redear sunfish, bluegill, and bass) but you don’t need a tackle box to enjoy this beautiful lake. Grills and picnic tables are peppered around the shoreline, and it’s also a great spot to spend a night camping.

3. Sardis Lake

Clocking in at a staggering 98,520 acres, a visit to Sardis Lake this summer is a no-brainer. There are dozens of access points, and each one comes with plenty of perks. Think beaches, boat launches, grills, and more.

4. Enid Lake

Take your pick: swimming, fishing, boating, and camping are just a few of the attractions to Enid Lake. There are many access points to enjoy the lake, especially on the western side. If popular spots like Hickory Ridge are too crowded, you can always head over to another spot.

Pro tip: The sunrises over Enid Lake are worth waking up for.

5. Grenada Lake

With almost 150 miles of shoreline, Grenada Lake attracts visitors from all over the state every year. There are 25 recreation areas surrounding this lake, so you’ll have no trouble finding a little spot to call your own.

6. Ross R Barnett Reservoir

Saving the best for last. The Ross R Barnett Reservoir, also known as “the Rez” by locals, is a 33,000-acre lake that’s one of the most popular lakes in Mississippi. Five campgrounds are located around the lake plus plenty of boat launches, parks, and viewpoints.
