Here Are 11 Things You Better Have If You Want To Survive In Michigan

Living in Michigan can be great, but I think we can all agree that it comes with its challenges. The crummy weather and roads can make living here difficult. But if you have the proper tools, you'll be OK. Here are some of the essentials any Michigander could use.

11) A good bug spray to stave off the summer mosquitoes.

You'll thank us come summer. Trust.

10) An open mind.

Don't get caught in a rut. There's so much to explore all over Michigan, so have an open mind and check it all out.

9) A reliable car.

We've seen plenty of clunkers on the road, but having a jalopy won't do much good if you strike one of our infamous potholes.

8) An even more reliable spare tire.

Let's face it: Michigan roads are atrocious. So while having a good car is nice, you're going to want to invest in a quality spare, just in case.

7) Plenty 'o layers.

It gets cold, and then inexplicably, it gets warm. Layers will give you the option to wrap up quickly, or strip down, if need be.

6) A sense of adventure.

There's just so much to see and do in Michigan, you don't want to miss anything.

5) A go-to pair of snow boots.

Nothing's worse than stepping into a big slushy puddle on the street corner.

4) A snow shovel.

And while you're at it, please don't send out your grandpa to shovel.

3) A rake.

You're gonna wanna gather those leaves off the sidewalk and then let 'em burn.

2) A high-quality camera.

To capture all the beauty in the state.

1) A classic apple pie recipe.

Gotta make good use of those delicious Michigan apples.

Something to think about, huh? Tell us what you would add to the list!
