Did you know that every single one of Maryland's lakes are man-made? Even though we don't have any natural lakes, that doesn't make them any less beautiful. These 10 are always worth visiting, especially during autumn. Throw on a hoodie and sneakers, and have a great time exploring these local, fall foliage - infused lakes.

1. Deep Creek Lake

Deep Creek Lake is Maryland's largest lake. It's bustling during summer and a bit quieter (but even more stunning) during autumn. This western Maryland gem belongs on your bucket list.

2. Liberty Reservoir

Liberty Reservoir sort of separates Carroll County and Baltimore County. The views during fall are picture-perfect from up close, and from afar.

3. Lake Habeeb

Another lake to the west, Lake Habeeb is located at Rocky Gap State Park. Enjoy the beach during summertime and take the the trails (or camp out) during autumn. The onsite resort is also a great spot to visit.

4. Greenbrier Lake

Located at Greenbrier State Park, this Washington County lake is a must-see. It's known to get crowded during summer months but is an absolute stunner during fall. Bring your camera!

5. Centennial Lake

This lake is the centerpiece of Centennial Park in Howard County. The paved path that surrounds it is perfect for strollers, bicycles, etc.

You may have been to Cunningham Falls State Park to seek out the waterfall, or the beach, but the lake here is beautiful during autumn. Explore the trails and prepare for colors galore.

7. Lake Tuckahoe

You'll find Tuckahoe State Park in the eastern part of the state. The lake here is like a painting during fall, and is a favorite spot for fishing and more.

Head to Montgomery County to find Seneca Creek State Park. That's where you can enjoy Clopper Lake, which is perfect for boating and fishing. See if you can snap photos of the watery reflections.

9. Piney Run Lake

Hiding in Carroll County is this local gem known as Piney Run Lake, at Piney Run Park. Bring your kayak and take in the views all around.

10. Lake Artemesia

Locals head to this College Park-area lake year-round for walking and birdwatching. In fall, it becomes a colorful paradise that you'll want to see in person.
