Okay, Mainers. We're more than halfway through June and in the warm days we've had, there have been plenty of lake trips, river romps and beach days. And now...it's time to get creative. The beaches will be there all summer. The lakes will only get warmer as time goes by. And the rivers? If our recent float trip down the Crooked River is any indication, they could use some more time to fill with water. A river float is less fun when you have to portage your tube most of the way. Today, we're reminding you that marshes are a great way to enjoy Maine's waterways. And this spot in Scarborough is one of the best marshes in Maine.
You might not notice the Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center from the road.
The office and parking area sit just off of Pine Point Road, as you head east towards the beach.
But, pull in on a sunny day and you'll be met with an idyllic natural setting perfect for anyone looking for an educational and fun day trip.

The naturalist guided tours include a relaxing paddle down the water with information about the eco-system and wildlife found throughout the area.

Keep an eye out for birds like a Yellowlegs.
Or even a Snowy Egret.
It's not uncommon to see folks with binoculars and cameras set up and waiting for the perfect moment.
