From the streets of New Orleans to the vibrant blooms of countless gardens, there's no doubt that Louisiana is a colorful state. But what are some of the most colorful places in Louisiana you can (and should!) visit? Well, we are about to find out. So, with a sense of adventure in mind, grab your camera and let's go see some of the state's most colorful destinations that will surely make your day a bit brighter.
1. The French Quarter (New Orleans)

One of the most colorful places to visit in Louisiana is, as we all know, New Orleans. Within the city, several neighborhoods are filled with vibrant hues, including the French Quarter. Whether you just drive through Vieux Carré (another name for the French Quarter) or explore on foot or by carriage tour, you'll see both the pastel and bright colors of the historic Creole cottages, shotgun houses, and townhomes with cast iron balconies. This 85-block neighborhood is one of the most historic and visually fascinating parts of the city, yet it offers an interesting mix of newer and older structures. It's a must-visit when spending time in New Orleans.
2. Chauvin Sculpture Garden (Chauvin)
Over 12 years, from 1988 to 2000, artist Kenneth Hill created nearly 100 cement sculptures in his garden in Chauvin, Louisiana. The themes of his artwork ranged from self-portraits and self-expression to religious iconography, including angels and themes of good vs. evil. Shortly after the Chauvin Sculpture Garden lay abandoned, it was acquired by Nicholls State University, which has made it a mission to preserve the artist's vision. When you visit, you will notice not only the intricate detailing of the sculptures but also their bright colors. It's a fascinating display that's free to view daily between sunrise and sunset.
3. Jungle Gardens (Avery Island)
Located on Avery Island, best known as the home of the spicy pepper sauce brand TABASCO®, is a garden worth visiting for an afternoon stroll. At 170 acres, Jungle Gardens is an oasis founded in the 1890s as a bird sanctuary, specifically for snowy egrets. While numerous bird species and other wildlife call Jungle Gardens home, you'll also discover a world of color throughout its blooming gardens filled with exotic flowers and semitropical plants, including a bamboo forest, a wisteria arch, azaleas, camellias, and more. It's a wonderfully colorful and stunning slice of nature in Louisiana.
