Check All 8 Wonders Of Kansas Off Your Travel List This Year

Kansans voted for their top 8 favorite attractions, showcasing the best the state has to offer.

A few years ago, Kansans voted for their favorite attractions to represent the 8 best of what we have to offer. Across the whole state, these 8 places shined above the rest to become our official top 8. If you haven't visited each of them, this should be the year you try to! Make sure to mark all of these off your bucket list as you travel.

1. Big Well Museum

The world's largest hand-dug well calls the town of Greensburg home, and holds within a museum detailing the town's history, natural disasters, and the well's information.

2. Cheyenne Bottoms/Quivira National Wildlife Refuge

This beautiful wetland area is a sight you'll want to check out during the times of the year when shorebirds migrate. They use this area as a sort of timeshare, where they spend months along their travels to and from their seasonal homes.

3. Cosmosphere

Get the space experience as well as seeing some of the mechanics up close and personal right here in Kansas. In states like ours where you see so much sky, it's no wonder that we love it so much. Through the stars through difficulties, after all!

4. Dwight D. Wisenhower Presidential Library & Museum

This presidential library tells of the lifetime achievements of Dwight D. Eisenhower, a five star general and previous President of the Unites States. It recants his childhood days in Abilene to his two terms as President. It's a historical museum you shouldn't miss out on!

5. Strataca, the Kansas Underground Salt Museum

Explore hundreds of feet underground by foot and by train to get into the old mine and see just what it's like being underground. It's great for kids and adults alike, as long as you're okay being under there!

6. Monument Rocks

Our beautiful Monument Rocks of course made the cut, as it is many Kansans' pride and joy. We love to visit whenever we can and marvel at the wonder of Kansas's western side once being part of a sea.

7. Cathedral of the Plains - St. Fidelis Catholic Church

This gorgeous giant isn't actually a cathedral, but St. Fidelis Basilica surely feels like one. It was once the largest church west of the Mississippi back when it was built in 1911. The beautiful stained glass and towering structure still amazes to this day.

8. Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve & The Flint Hills

Kansas truly wouldn't be the same without our stunning Flint Hills and Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. It's a gorgeous section of our landscape that many of us can't do without seeing.
