10 Scrumptious Restaurants You Can Find In This One Small Town In Kansas

It's pretty common to find good food wherever you go in Kansas. However, to find 10 different restaurants all offering delicious meals... in one small town? That's almost unheard of. These scrumptious restaurants aren't something to overlook when visiting this one small town in the middle of the plains. Where are we going, you ask? To Abilene, of course!

The town itself has about 7,000 residents, many of which participate in some form of historical reenactment for town events. It's the location of the beautiful Lebold Mansion, and the historic Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library, which is now a museum. It's also home to an incredible number of restaurants, of which we've chosen 10 of the best. Let's take a look.

1. M&R Grill - 1720 N Buckeye Ave.

This isn't your average city grill with dry steaks and old sides. This eatery makes their food fresh, and you can tell. There's always something on the menu for everyone, but be prepared to wait a little if they're busy!

2. Amanda's Bakery & Bistro - 302 N Broadway St.

Bakeries don't usually serve homemade chicken and noodles, but you should definitely give Amanda's a try. If this meal isn't your style, they have plenty of other fare (and lots of cake).

3. Garcia's Restaurant - 1213 3d Street NW

Authentic Mexican food is hard to find in small towns, but Abilene is lucky with Garcia's around. It should be standard in every small town to have a great place to get real tacos!

4. Hitching Post - 100 SE 5th St.

The Hitching Post is one of my favorites, with cinnamon rolls that'll keep you full all morning. At lunch, however, the Surf and Turf is my choice.

5. Joe Snuffy's - 209 W 1st St.

Here's a great place to get chicken fried, but their deep fried veggies are by far anyone's favorite. Here's a great restaurant that does Kansas comfort food right.

6. Ike's Place Bar & Grill - 100 NW 14th St.

Don't let "bar & grill" deter you from Ike's, because you'd be missing out. The restaurant is separated from the bar area, and you'll find yourself dining on bar food of all kinds, with all the flavors Abilene has to offer.

7. Tornado Alley Lanes - 2209 N Buckeye Ave.

Yes, I know this is first and foremost a bowling alley, but why not enjoy both food and fun at the same time? This little spot is perfect for a night out with the family, and they get strike when it comes to taste.

8. Brookville Hotel - 105 E Lafayette Ave.

Many tourists come here for the experience and leave with a full belly, our favorite part of Brookville is their fried chicken. If you're the type, you've gotta try their homemade relishes.

9. Midway Bar & Grill - 1451 US 40

If you're looking for greasy bar food that hit's the spot just right, look no further than Midway. Their juicy burgers fit right in with the bar atmosphere, and they go great with an ice cold beer.

10. Three One One - 311 N Spruce St.

If you find yourself wishing for the sea, look for 311 instead! All sorts of food including mahi-mahi tacos are served at this restaurant, including the pictured loaded fries with brisket and cheese. They're rightfully dubbed "The Key West of the Midwest" for sure.
