You’ll Want to Visit This Dreamy Iowa Town Full Of Lighthouses As Soon As Possible

Storm Lake in Iowa is uniquely known for its operational lighthouses despite being landlocked.

A town full of lighthouses in Iowa? Even though we are landlocked, we still have this one town that's happily obsessed with lighthouses. Several lighthouses in Storm Lake are fully operational and used for navigation. They are also listed in the ARLHS World List of Lights.

The town of Storm Lake is in Buena Vista County and has about 10,600 residents.

It's home to such attractions as Kings Pointe Waterpark, Away Sis Park, and several beautiful lighthouses. The town of Storm Lake is so enamored with lighthouses that they made one part of their sign.

Stoney Point, Bayview St., Storm Lake

The best way to see this working lighthouse is from the lake.

It’s located behind several houses on private property.

This lighthouse was built in 1993 by Kirby Roberts. You'll find it on the southwestern side of the lake.

Lighthouse Inn 1601 E Lakeshore Dr., Storm Lake

This retro hotel's defining feature is its lighthouse statue. This is a true mom and pop motel with friendly hosts, immaculate rooms, and ultra-comfortable beds.

Kings Pointe, 1308 IA-7, Storm Lake

This lighthouse has a spiral staircase that leads to an observation deck. There is an elevator inside the tower, as well. You can see for miles around. Plan to stay and explore the beautiful surrounding Away Sis Park, here. There's a public beach and incredible views.

It's on Lakeshore Drive on the northeast corner of the lake.
