Madison is a charming and beautiful riverfront town. You’ll find it in southeastern Indiana, right next to the Kentucky state line.
This town is home to approximately 12,000 people and believe us, there is plenty to see and do. It's also one of the best places to live in Indiana.
This historic town is packed with sites that will give you a small glimpse of a time long ago. Spend some time walking around Madison’s downtown business district, which features more than 133 blocks of architecture and is one of the country’s largest National Historic Landmark Districts.
Make sure you take some time to visit one of the eight house museums around the city as well.
If you only have time for one, we suggest a visit to the Lanier Mansion State Historic Site. This remarkable mansion was built in 1844 by banker James F. D. Lanier.
If you want to spend your weekend enjoying the fresh air and the beauty of Indiana, Madison will not leave you disappointed. Enjoy a stroll on the paved Heritage Trail that begins downtown and takes you to a steep hilltop with views of the Ohio River. It’s definitely worth the climb!
And located on the outskirts of town is Clifty Falls State Park. Here, you will find some of the most beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails around.
