When winter rolls around in the Hoosier State, we don't duck and cover... no, we roll with it. And with so many incredible things to do during the winter in Indiana, we get out, and we enjoy the season. For my money, one of the best ways to lean into wintertime around these parts is to find a place to set up a base camp and then get out and relish the cooler temps and, when we can find it, snow. A great spot to do just that is the historic town of Lawrenceburg - it's perfect for a winter weekend getaway in Indiana.
You'll find plenty to do in charming Lawrenceburg, with its historic downtown and all its shops and eateries. There's also a popular riverfront casino in town for those wishing to try their luck. And in winter, you'll find plenty more to do here, as well.
Even if there's no snow in the Ohio River valley, you're almost guaranteed to find some winter fun at Perfect North Slopes, just a few minutes outside of Lawrenceburg. With 23 lift-serviced trails, two terrain parks, and 25 tubing lanes, winter sports lovers will find plenty to do at this popular Indiana snow resort.
For those looking for a little less elevation, the riverfront Lawrenceburg/Aurora Trail is a multi-use path running between the two communities that's ideal for hiking, biking, or simply strolling along. And in the winter, when the trees are bare, the views across the Ohio valley are expansive.
When you've had your fill of outdoor activity, head back to your cozy Airbnb cabin, The Dibble Treehouse, which is located just outside of Lawrenceburg in Rising Sun. This two-story cabin on stilts rises above a beautiful wooded lot and can accommodate up to six guests in its two bedrooms and one bath.
Just built in 2023, this property boasts a full kitchen, a 60-inch television and all the indoor amenities you'll need for a comfy stay. But it's the outdoor parts that I love. After a day on the slopes or trail, you can kindle a bonfire in the fire pit and enjoy the starry night, chill in the hot tub, or simply sit in the sauna and let the steam soothe your muscles.

I don't think you'll do much better for a winter weekend getaway in Indiana than spending a couple days in Lawrenceburg. What do you think? What are some of your favorite spots for winter fun in the Hoosier State? We'd love to hear about them!
