The Inn was built back in the 1850s as a boarding house for a man who was attempting to build a railroad from Fernandina Beach to Cedar Key.
After going through some major changes over the years, including housing Union soldiers during the Civil War, the hotel eventually flourished during the Golden Age, attracting high profile families like the Vanderbilts, DuPonts, and Carnegies.
The Inn today has undergone renovations in order to maintain some more modern amenities, but there is still a ton of charm to go around.
