The One Town Near Denver That Turns Into A Winter Wonderland Each Year

Each December, historic downtown Georgetown is transformed into a traditional holiday scene reminiscent of the Victorian era. Georgetown may be tiny (population 1,200), but it is mighty when it comes to holiday festivities with nostalgic charm.

This former mining town has held onto its historic roots with a gorgeous cluster of Victorian homes and shops.

Downtown Georgetown becomes a bustling Christmas scene of long ago as it hosts its annual Christmas Market along 6th street during the first two weekends of December.

This outdoor European Marketplace includes horse-drawn wagon rides, carolers in costume, hot roasted chestnuts and vendors selling handcrafted gifts and food.

This is all in addition to the wonderful year-round shopping and restaurants available in Georgetown.

The Georgetown Loop Railroad's route connects Georgetown to the former mining camp of Silver Plume about two miles away via train. During this ride, passengers will experience a gain of 640 feet in elevation as they wind through the steep, narrow walls of Clear Creek Canyon and cross four bridges. Don't miss a memorable ride with Santa through the lighted forest. Rides begin mid-November and continue through the beginning of January.
