This Groovy Downtown Denver Hotel Has 13 Uniquely Themed Floors, Each Complete with a “Hyper-Decorated” Room

Spend the night “inn” style at this design-focused hotel, where no two visits need to be the same.

The Curtis Denver - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel is a hotel that just feels “fun.” It's like a whole unique travel experience within its own four walls. It’s the kind of hotel you could stay on-site every night for almost two weeks, but never have the same room twice. And since it’s a DoubleTree property, you’ll even get one of those signature chocolate chip cookies when you check in.

The hotel is in the middle of downtown Denver, an excellent location for exploring the city. But what really makes The Curtis special is its "hyper-themed" guest rooms, each boasting its own decor and design. The hotel describes itself as a “vibrant playground for the senses.”

Each of the 13 floors in this hotel features a unique "theme” that the property goes above and beyond in creativity in adhering to. For example, when you arrive on each floor via the elevator, you’ll hear audio tailored explicitly to that specific floor—something cheeky and funny to listen to as the elevator doors open.

Outside of the hyper-themed rooms and the individually decorated floors, the general atmosphere on-site is just super playful, which makes it a great place to spend time. It’s right by the convention center and adjacent to the famous 16th Street Mall in the heart of Denver. This is a great location to set as a home base for checking out the city, whether visiting on a business trip or staying overnight as a tourist.

When you get hungry, head downstairs to The Corner Office Restaurant + Martini Bar, where there's an air of merriment and an impressive menu of drinks and dining choices. The retro decor is fun, and the crafted cocktails and cuisine are top-notch.

It’s cleverly themed, and you can feel how much thoughtfulness went into every detail at the joint from ideating the names for each drink, to creating a wide range of options for all cravings, on the menu (which is available every day, by the way—it’s a rare and enjoyable thing to choose something off a brunch on a Wednesday morning… don’t sleep on the warm, soft and gooey monkey bread).

In addition to dining downstairs, when I was visiting, I just loved to explore the common spaces around the hotel, which are filled with locally curated and created art pieces. The property collaborated with curators from Nine Dot Arts as well as the Colorado State University Library’s Archives and Special Collections department to showcase entertaining pieces like the bunny-eared sumo wrestlers, life-sized Star Trek action figures, Cher Barbie dolls, and a range of classic arcade games.

But the real draw here, from my experience, is the super interesting opportunities to become immersed in another world in one of the 13 hyper-themed rooms on each floor. I spent the night on-site with my dog (the hotel is dog-friendly!) in the Chick Flick room. This room featured a sort of "battle of the sexes" themed flair seen in the decor and felt in the little details.

Other “hyper-themed” rooms include The Final Frontier Room, which feels “out of this world,” with Kirk, Spock, Sulu, and the rest of the intergalactic gang in a spacey, Sci-Fi-inspired suite. There’s also the trademarked Barbie Room, which lives on the “Big Hair” floor (calling attention to an elevated culture of hair and its influences).

Don’t miss the Talladega Nights Room, which is outfitted in shades of red, white, and blue, complete with NASCAR knick-knacks and a one-of-a-kind painting of “all things Ricky Bobby” (from cheese fountains to mountain lions). And the “Fun in the Sun” room is closely reminiscent of feeling like you’re on island time, taking a trip to the land of margaritas. There are also the newly renovated, more spacious suites, which are rock n roll themed, including a Rolling Stones Suite and a Kiss suite, which have 800 square feet of space for a legendary evening.

No matter what room you stay in, it’s bound to be a one-of-a-kind overnight trip at The Curtis. Plus, the property team is finishing an extensive renovation right now. This means there will soon be new hyper-decorated rooms and new floor themes unveiled very soon. It’s a different adventure every time you visit.
