The One Spot In Delaware That’s Basically Heaven On Earth
Rehoboth Beach is a popular family-friendly destination known for its clean beaches, boardwalk, and natural beauty.
The city of Rehoboth Beach, DE is known for its family-friendly boardwalk, clean beaches, and waves that are perfect for playing in the summer sun. With plenty of restaurants, attractions, and areas where you can escape the crowds and disappear into nature, it's easy to see why this is such a popular destination! Not to mention, it's just a short bike ride on the Junction and Breakwater trail from the historic town of Lewes, where there are endless treasures to discover.
From Gus & Gus on the Boardwalk to Silver Lake State Bird Refuge on the south end of town, Rehoboth Beach is the whole package - nature, fine dining, casual eats, beautiful trails, and sand beneath your feet. It really is heaven on earth. Let's walk around...
The best way to get into Rehoboth Beach isn't Route 1...
...but rather, it's the Junction and Breakwater Trail that winds down from Cape Henlopen State Park. The trail will really show you the beauty of the area and is easy enough for nearly anyone to conquer.
Along the way, you'll pass Holland Glade.
In the right lighting, Holland Glade looks absolutely stunning. Take a break here to spot the migratory birds that make this a resting or breeding point on their journey.
Once you arrive, you should quickly find your way to the beach.
Clearly the reason so many flock to this town year-round is the soft sand and beautiful water. While, like any crowded place, it can get a little messy during peak months, the town works hard to keep beaches in Delaware beautiful.
I know that I can't be the only one who loves visiting this town in the Winter.
To me, snow on the beach is the best of both worlds, provided the wind isn't too bad and I'm dressed appropriately. The ocean is extra blue on those chilly, high-pressure days when there's not a cloud in the sky.
But, of course, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware comes alive in the summer.
Sunbathers, surfers, and swimmers take over the sand and make the beach their own for summer fun. There are many reasons this resort town is so popular - but the quality of the beach is #1.
The Boardwalk is where so many Delawareans have made treasured memories.
From shopping in the boutiques and candy stores to just strolling around enjoying the sounds of summer... aah, I can picture myself there.
And, of course, this iconic scene that brings joy to millions every year!
Dolles famous salt water taffy and the Bandstand, where live music and entertainment keeps Rehoboth Beach lively throughout the season - this is perhaps the most memorable view in the entire state.
No Rehoboth Beach story would be complete without Gus and Gus, of course.
For what seems like an enternity, Gus and Gus Place on the boardwalk has served up burgers, shakes and fries to hungry Delawareans. There's nothing better than chowing down after a long walk or bike ride around town.
Oh - can't forget Funland!
Funland is the only real amusement park in Delaware! So, of course, it's part of the charm of Rehoboth Beach. With rides and games for the entire family - hanging out here will make you feel like a kid again.
Beyond the boardwalk (and open for most of the year) is the charming, quaint downtown.
With boutique shops and world-class restaurants, you're guaranteed to enjoy your time strolling around downtown Rehoboth Beach. If you're visiting in the off season, stay nearby and enjoy a unique Rehoboth Beach experience that, for once, isn't centered on the boardwalk.
However you decide to enjoy Rehoboth Beach, enjoy it you will...
... because there's just nothing else quite like this slice of Heaven in Delaware.
Now I'm longing for a beach day trip. I've made so many memories in the city of Rehoboth Beach, DE and know that, in my lifetime, I'll make so many more... what is your favorite Rehoboth Beach story?
