When you travel along the Red Clay Valley Scenic Byway, you get to see the back roads of gorgeous New Castle County.
Historic Hockessin is one town you'll drive through. Stop by the Meetinghouse to admire the stonework, or take a break to stroll downtown shops.

Keep an eye out for the many railroad crossings on your journey. The Wilmington and Western Railroad is a rolling museum that's active in the area.
Along your drive, you'll see the Garrett Snuff Mill. The buildings still standing at this abandoned tobacco mill complex were built between 1846 and 1901!
The gorgeous Auburn Heights Preserve, in Yorklyn, hosts a steam museum and miles of manicured hiking paths to explore.

While you wind through the twenty eight back roads that make up the Red Clay Valley Scenic Byway, you'll see the gorgeous Ashland Covered Bridge.
The Ashland Bridge and the Wooddale Bridge are two of the last covered bridges still standing in Delaware. Both bridges were built in the mid 19th century.
Don't forget to carve out time to visit the Mt. Cuba Center. This botanical garden shows off the best of Delaware's native plants and trees.
