Start your weekend off with a Friday night in Old New Castle.
Stroll Battery Park while the sun sets - the views over the water are beautiful when the sky is red and orange.
Once you've cleared your head at the park, grab dinner in the historic downtown.
Try Jessop's, if you've never been, or Nora Lee's if you're looking for a New Orleans experience right here in Delaware.

Saturday morning, head down south to Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge.
Bombay Hook is one of the most beautiful places in Delaware. You can drive through some of the park and hike through the rest of it, so bring comfortable shoes. Getting out and exploring one of the most diverse ecological preserves on the east coast is worth a weekend getaway in itself.
From there, you can head over to the state's capital, Dover.
Wander through downtown Dover on Loockerman and State Streets, where cafes and restaurants are plenty, and boutique shops are easy to find.
If the weather is really nice, order takeout for a picnic on the Green!
There are benches around, plenty of shade from the beautiful old trees, and lots of grass to lay out a picnic blanket. Hanging out on the Green is one of my favorite ways to relax in Delaware.
On Sunday morning, try to drag yourself out of bed in time to get to Cape Henlopen for a sunrise.
Even if it's the only time in your life that you're up that early, it's so worth it to see the sun rise over the cape.
Plus, you'll have all day to explore Lewes.
The town is one of the most charming in Delaware, and you can easily spend all day wandering the streets! Grab lunch at Irish Eyes for a great view, or treat yourself to an unforgettable dinner at The Buttery. No matter what culinary choices you make here, you'll have an awesome meal.
