I Don’t Ski, But the Snow Tubing in Connectict is Incredible

Skip the ski slopes and experience the thrills of snow tubing at Powder Ridge Mountain Park in Connecticut instead.

Skiing has never been my thing, but hand me a sled or a snow tube, and I am a happy girl! There's something so freeing, so thrilling about speeding downhill on a tube—it brings out the kid in me. If you're not into skiing and haven't tried snow tubing yet, make this the year to go. And if you're wondering, the most exciting spot for some of the best snow tubing in Connecticut is Powder Ridge Mountain Park in Middlefield.

One of the most exhilarating things to do in Connecticut in winter is to spend some time outside playing in the snow, especially when it involves a thrilling high-speed ride down a hill! All bundled up with the cold air biting your nose, winter is an incredible time for some fresh air and fun. And what better way to enjoy the cold than tubing at Powder Ridge Mountain Park, one of the only snow tubing parks in Connecticut?

Powder Ridge Mountain Park is an all-seasons park offering activities such as paintball, ziplining, disc golf, and mountain biking in the summer, and skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing in the winter. There's even an on-site restaurant called Fire at the Ridge, which is open Wednesday through Saturday from noon until 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

A favorite activity at Powder Ridge Park is, obviously, snow tubing. Book a 1-hour 45-minute session that includes a tube and a helmet, which are required at this park. While there are no age, weight, or height restrictions, those who wish to go snow tubing (including children) must be able to ride solo and carry their own tube up the hill via the conveyor lift.

Once you're at the top of the hill, get on your tube and enjoy an exciting, fun-filled ride down a groomed snow-tubing run. Tubing is so much fun, you won't be able to help but smile and laugh... and then you'll want to do it over and over again!

While snow tubing during the day is a blast, have you ever gone at night? No? Well, at Powder Ridge Park, you can also book an Interstellar Snow Tubing Pass, giving you the opportunity to go tubing under the glow of neon lights while music plays. Interstellar tubing sessions start at 5 p.m., with the last one ending at 10:45 p.m. It's undoubtedly one of the most unique winter activities you can do in Connecticut!

When was the last time you went snow tubing in Connecticut? If it's been a while (or never), pick a day, buy a snow tubing pass online, and head to Powder Ridge Park in Middlefield. To learn more about snow tubing, along with other activities offered, visit the Powder Ridge Mountain Park & Resort website and follow the park's Facebook page for updates.
