The Small Town In Northern California Boasting World-Famous Pie Is The Sweetest Day Trip Destination

Pescadero, a small town in Northern California, offers delightful day trips with its famous pie, artisan coffee, natural beauty, and historic lighthouse.

In a place as big as Northern California, it's natural that some places should be a little less popular than others. With so many sights to see, some are going to fall through the cracks. One small town in Northern California that doesn't get nearly as much love as it deserves is the little town of Pescadero in San Mateo County. Though its population is under 1,000, there's a lot to see here. It makes for an absolutely delightful day trip that's perfect for your next outing.

Pescadero may be a small town, but it's got some world-famous pie. Duarte's Tavern has been delighting Californians since 1894. It serves up delicious Portuguese and American foods.

The artichoke soup is a must-try, but make sure to save room for dessert! The award-winning pie is made with locally-grown fruits and it's absolutely amazing.

You can find out more on the restaurant's website.

Need a pick-me-up after filling up on soup and pie?

No worries - Pescadero has a great little coffee shop for all your caffeine needs. Downtown Local is a quirky place that not only serves up artisan coffee, but also has a variety of vintage and handmade goods for sale.

Not only does Pescadero have delicious food, but there's plenty of natural beauty here as well.

Butano State Park is a lovely 4,728-acre preserve that features mighty redwood canyons and creeks. This is such a pretty place!

Pescadero is home to the tallest lighthouse on the West Coast. Pigeon Point Light was built in 1871 and stands 115 feet tall.

It's a particularly picturesque lighthouse, built in the traditional New England style and unusual for the California coast. It's a photographer's dream!

Pescadero State Beach is one of our favorite beaches in Northern California. It's got a mile of shoreline and features a surprisingly diverse array of terrain.
