The Battery Point Light is also called the Crescent City Lighthouse. It has a very long history - it was one of the first lighthouses built on the California coast. It was built in the 1850s to help ships navigate the treacherous coastal waters.
The lighthouse is just offshore and it's open to the public. There’s a catch – you can only reach the lighthouse at low tide. Research the tide schedule - the land bridge quickly disappears as the ocean rises and you don’t want to be trapped at this lighthouse!

Over the decades, one family after another lived at this lonely outpost, tending the light. In 1936 the Coast Guard took over the light and in 1953 the light was automated so no human needed to tend the light.
Did the families really leave this lonely spot? Paranormal investigators don’t think so. One paranormal investigation found the lighthouse is haunted by two adults and one child.
