Driving through Coulterville, you'll see many preserved historic buildings. These buildings are part of the Coulterville Main Street Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Established in 1850, Coulterville thrived as a gold mining and supply center during its heyday. Unlike other Gold Rush towns, Coulterville is quiet and doesn’t attract a ton of tourists. The town also does not have many businesses, but it has enough to do and see to make it worth the drive. Visitors will find a hotel and restaurants, and the Northern Mariposa County History Center within the small downtown.

The small downtown is walkable, and the Old West-style buildings make for some excellent photo opportunities. The History Center showcases the town's fascinating past and really makes this quiet town come alive.
