The Small Town In Arkansas Boasting World-Famous Pie Is The Sweetest Day Trip Destination
Ms. Lena's Pie Shop in DeValls Bluff, Arkansas, is renowned for its delicious, homemade pies and is a must-visit spot for both locals and tourists.
Finding good pie is easy as pie…you just have to know where to look. And if you ask any local, they’ll tell you to look in small town Arkansas, which is home to a tiny, unassuming shop that whips up the most delicious pies.
Small town Arkansas is full of sweet surprises - and Ms. Lena’s Pie Shop in DeValls Bluff is one of them!
The small town sweet spot has been around for more than 10 years, and in that time, it’s been featured in Southern Living and on the website Seriouseats.com.
Between the rural locale and ramshackle building, it’d be so easy to drive right past the shop. In reality, though, it’s the opposite.
Locals and tourists alike flock to the shop to get a taste of Ms. Lena’s famous pies.
In fact, it’s not uncommon for there to be a line of patrons snaking out the front door and around the building.
Definitely worth the detour – and the wait – Ms. Lena’s “4-star, world class” pies are decadently delicious.
When it comes to the pies, it’s hard to say what the best part is – the crust or the filling. Thin, savory, rich, and brittle in all the right ways, the crust provides the perfect base for Ms. Lena’s pies. The fillings are just as tantalizing. Like the crust, the fillings are made from scratch and come in a slew of flavors – from chocolate to sour apple.
Ms. Lena’s sells fried pies, too, and they’re just as popular as the traditional pies.
Unlike the traditional pies, though, the fried pies are only available seasonally.
There’s no denying that Ms. Lena’s is a must-visit; however, there are a few things to keep in mind before making the trek to the small town sweet shop.
Ms. Lena’s is a cash-only type of place, which means you’ll need to swing by an ATM before visiting. Also, there’s no indoor seating, so all orders are to-go. Lastly, the tasty pies at Ms. Lena’s are sold two ways – whole and by-the-slice. We recommend buying the whole pie, so you’ll have leftovers to enjoy later.
For more info, call Ms. Lena’s Pie Shop at (870) 998-1385. And make sure to like Ms. Lena’s Pie Shop on Facebook to stay in the loop on specials, pie flavors, hours, and more.
This small town pie shop is a true hidden gem! It’s not the only hidden gem in Arkansas, though. There are lots of secret spots to explore, including this Arkansas resort in the middle of nowhere.
