It's no secret that Sedona is a hub for creativity, and USA Today agrees. According to one of their most recent Readers' Choice lists, Sedona is one of the top 10 small towns in America for arts and culture. Here's why:
As if we needed another reason to adore Sedona, USA Today has given us one.
The publisher recently came out with a "Best Small Town Cultural Scene" installment in its 10Best series, and Sedona came in fourth place.
Sedona is a haven for creative types of all kinds. The town features everything from museums and art galleries to metaphysical shops and energy vortexes.
It's also the perfect setting to be inspired, with a gorgeous red rock landscape and dazzling night skies.
The art scene in Sedona goes way back.
In 1965, a group of friends (who happened to be both cowboys and artists) gathered at the Cowboy Club - formerly known as Oak Creek Tavern. Here, they formed the Cowboy Artists of America, an elite organization that has become one of the most influential artists’ groups in American history.
Also worth mentioning is the Sedona Arts Center.
The center highlights the work of local artists via in-person exhibitions and an online gallery. Visitors can also participate in First Friday Evenings in the Galleries, a monthly event hosted by several of the city's most prominent art galleries. You'll see all sorts of art forms on display, from stained glass to jewelry to traditional Native American weavings.
If you're interested in doing a little shopping, we highly recommend checking out Tlaquepaque.
Modeled after a traditional Mexican village, this world-renowned arts and crafts destination is nestled on the banks of the beautiful Oak Creek.
Tlaquepaque means "the best of everything," and that's exactly what the village has offered since its inception in the 1970s.
As you stroll down the cobblestone streets, you'll come upon artists fully absorbed in their work. There are over 50 shops and exclusive art galleries to peruse, so rest assured you'll walk away with an armful of unique treasures.
It's rare to come across a city that has it all, but Sedona is a stone's throw from perfection.
Between its endless outdoor adventures to the happening arts and culture scene, this little town is a true gem.
