One of the state's creepiest small towns where paranormal activity has been witnessed is Old Cahawba, which is also Alabama's most famous ghost town. Old Cahawba is located in Dallas County and is one of Alabama's most haunted places.

From 1820 to 1826, this creepy small town served as Alabama's first state capital. After the Civil War, it was left abandoned.

Old Cahawba now serves the public as an archaeological park, which receives visitors from all over the South and beyond.

One of the town's best-known stories just so happens to be one of the many reasons why Old Cahawba is considered creepy. As the story goes, a couple witnessed a floating orb in the garden area of Colonel C.C. Pegues' house. This happened right after he was killed during the war. The story soon became known as "Pegues' Ghost," and visitors come from all over to see if they can spot the floating orb.

Even though Old Cahawba is mostly filled with ruins, its historic past makes it well worth a visit. Plus, you just might have a paranormal experience.
