Bring Your Own Water Bottle The Next Time You Travel Through This California Airport

TSA PreCheck simplifies airport security for frequent travelers through a streamlined application process and numerous benefits.

The hustle and bustle of the airport can be stressful, but once we're through security, it's nice to grab a snack and a drink and settle into our seats at the gate to relax before boarding. If you're traveling through San Francisco International Airport soon, and you're planning to hydrate with a bottle of water, you might want to bring your own bottle - the airport is banning single-use plastic water bottles later this month.

San Francisco International Airport is already one of the world's most environmentally-conscious airports, but it's about to up its game to save the planet. Starting on August 20, 2019, the airport's stores and restaurants will no longer offer water in single-use plastic bottles.

The ban includes bottles that are smaller than one liter and contain spring or mineral water, sparkling water, and water with electrolytes added.

The ban on single-use water bottles doesn't mean that you'll go thirsty! The airport has more than 100 hydration stations and water fountains, so you can bring your own bottle and fill it up as much as you'd like while you wait for your flight. You'll find hydration stations in every terminal.

Visitors currently chug four million bottles of water at the airport every year - that's a lot of plastic! This new measure is part of SFO's Zero Waste Concessions program. Read more about the program here.
