More Than 100,000 Lights Adorn the San Antonio River Walk in Texas at Christmastime

When it comes to Christmas light displays, you'll be hard-pressed to find a major city in Texas that doesn't go all out. After all, here in Texas, we are known for doing big things. I love that we deck our neighborhoods and towns with Christmas cheer. I adore all the dazzling lights and hearing the festive sounds of the holiday season. That being said, the San Antonio River Walk at Christmas easily rises above all the rest in terms of its intensity and enchanting beauty. From the tiniest tot to the oldest soul, this enchanting holiday display is one that you'll remember for a lifetime. If you ask me, the San Antonio River Walk lights are the best holiday lights in Texas, so let's check them out this year.

San Antonio is easily the best Christmas town in terms of its light display. All it takes to understand that is an evening stroll down the River Walk surrounded by twinkling orbs that reflect beautifully on the water below. Over 100,000 lights of every color imaginable are draped over the towering bald cypress trees. It's like stepping into a winter wonderland - minus the snow, of course, but we're willing to look past that minor detail.

You can even take a gondola ride with Santa as your chauffeur! The Alamo City definitely knows how to celebrate Christmas in a Texas-sized way. Special events such as a parade, boat caroling, and luminaria festival coincide with these Texas Christmas light displays. You'll find tickets for these festive celebrations on the San Antonio River Walk website.

More recently, lights have been added north of downtown in the historic Pearl District. Either walk there yourself or take a guided tour complete with a steamy cup of hot chocolate. Admission is free and runs from mid-November to January.
