The Gigantic Cheese Store In Texas You’ll Want To Visit Over And Over Again
This quirky little town might be home to less than 2000 people, but it sure knows how to do one of our favorite foods in a big way.
Dozens of homemade, artisan cheeses and gourmet eats like a mac & cheese-stuffed grilled cheese guarantee you’ll need to be rolled home like a wheel of the stuff when all is said and done. This is Texas Cheese House, and it’s the unassuming store you never knew you needed to visit.
Located in the heart of historic downtown Lorena, this unassuming little store is home to some of the best cheese in Texas.
Inside is charming as can be, with checkered floors and old-fashioned glass cases from a bygone era.
Food just tastes better when it comes from small-town shops reminiscent of childhood, and Texas Cheese House certainly delivers that nostalgia factor.
A large variety of cheeses are made in-house and flavored with spices such as garlic, habanero, jalapeno, onion, and horseradish.
No fillers or preservatives, or dyes are added, and the milk used is free from hormones and antibiotics. The store also carries selections from other local cheese makers, including goat cheese for those with a lactose allergy.

Periodically, the store hosts a workshop to teach the ins and outs of putting together a cheese plate to people who frequently cater to large groups. They'll even offer advice as to what type of wine goes best with each cheese.
Half of the store serves as a restaurant, so you can devour the ooey-gooey goodness right away. How does a mac & cheese grilled cheese sound?

If a massive bowl of cheesy carbs is more your style, they've got you covered.
The macaroni is loaded with four or more cheese, and you can also get it "Animal Style" with ham and hot sauce. It's available in both cup and bowl size, but a concoction this mouthwatering leaves no room for small appetites.
You'll also find plenty of oils, jellies, and sauces for sale to use in making your own mind-blowing meals.
From gourmet grilled cheese to big, beautiful charcuterie boards, all your favorite eats can be given a fancy makeover guaranteed to convince people they're eating restaurant food.
We're not quite finished yet - after all, no meal is complete without dessert!
