Four Generations Of A Texas Family Have Owned And Operated The Legendary L & J Cafe
Family recipes just taste better – after all, it’s hard to beat the perfection that can only come from decades of fine-tuning ingredients and ratios. L & J Cafe in Texas has been around for almost a century, and it’s a fourth-generation family business. If these walls could talk, they would have incredible stories to tell – not to mention the mouthwatering Mexican food that’s some of the best you’ll ever have.
The oldest and most iconic restaurant in El Paso, L & J Cafe has been a local institution for almost 100 years.
Originally, the restaurant was located on the outskirts of the city and doubled as a speakeasy during the Prohibition era. It has since moved to a more convenient spot, right next to the Concordia Cemetery and near the base of the Franklin Mountains.
Four generations of the same family have owned and operated the restaurant, passing down traditional cooking methods and authentic flavor combinations still in use today.
You will see a variety of classic Mexican dishes, from hearty and nourishing caldo to tacos, enchiladas, and burritos. The chips and salsa are some of the best you'll ever have!
Other entrees include fajitas, combination plates, and a variety of scrumptious steak and seafood dishes. Family meals and a la carte items are also available.
If you aren't too stuffed after your meal, L & J's has several delicious desserts to choose from. Whether you're in the mood for flan, tres leches cake, or sopapillas, it's impossible to go wrong!
Visit the restaurant’s website or Facebook page for more information, including current business hours and a full menu.
