We just told you about antique shops in Gladewater, and today, we’re featuring Mrs. Lee’s Daffodil Garden. One look at this endless sea of beautiful springtime blooms, and you’ll be absolutely mesmerized.
Tucked away in the hilly East Texas Pineywoods is a peaceful, sprawling 900 acre ranch. It doesn't appear to be anything special for most of the year, but February and March turn the entire landscape into a vibrant oasis.
A sea of yellow extends endlessly into the distance, welcoming spring in the most magical way possible. We can't imagine a better way to step into the season defined by growth and new life.
A four-mile trail winds through two lakes, towering trees, and a replica pioneer log cabin, with millions of blooms lining the entire path. It's like a scene from the Wizard of Oz, only with flowers instead of bricks.
This quote is from the garden's namesake herself, Mrs. Lee. She planted the flowers to brighten up the place after her husband's death, requesting the public be allowed to marvel at their beauty after she too passed. We imagine she expected only locals to visit, but tourists from all over the globe have come to see the spectacle.
No matter how tempting, you're kindly asked to not pick or step on the daffodils. Mrs. Lee had the utmost respect for these gorgeous flowers, so by doing the same, you're paying homage to her and the legacy she left behind.
