Texas is full of diners, but none quite compare to Austin’s Kerbey Lane Cafe. This charming restaurant has been serving up some of the state’s very best pancakes and eggs since 1980 with no intention of stopping anytime soon. Read more about why Kerbey Lane is the best diner in Texas below:
As you ascend the steps leading to the entrance of the quaint little cottage-turned-restaurant, you'll be immediately whisked back to a simpler time complete with all the nostalgic memories that come along with it.
It got its start in 1980, operating out of a small house on Kerbey Lane in Austin. Evidently it was, and still is, a huge hit because it has since expanded to a total of seven locations in the area!
Kerbey Lane is open 24/7, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner options served 'round the clock. Chicken-fried steak, burgers, omelettes, and chicken Benedict are just a few of the many delicious items on the menu.
I'd like to direct your attention to the lower left corner. Those, ladies and gents, are CINNAMON ROLL pancakes. In case you didn't know, Kerbey Lane is most well-known for its stacks - just as a diner should be. They're always coming up with new and innovative flavors that never disappoint, so passing up a plate of cakes would be criminal.
Oh, and their famous Kerbey Queso is definitely something to write home about, as well. It has guacamole on the bottom, a layer of gooey cheese in the middle, and pico de gallo on top. It's so popular, Whole Foods stores in Austin now carry it!
So next time you have a hankering for a fat stack of pancakes, a hefty dose of nostalgia, and some of the friendliest waitstaff you've ever seen, head on over to Kerbey Lane for a meal you won't soon forget.
