When embarking on a whimsical castle road trip, you have to begin with the gems close to home. The "Castle On The Hill" is more than just a quirky landmark -- it's the oldest existing college building in the state. The Texas Military Institute occupied this castle for a time, but today it's used as an office building. Go ahead and see it up close. The downtown views are spectacular.

This wonderful place is not typically open for visitors, so if you want to tour the interior you'll need to schedule an appointment beforehand.
