You may recognize the name of the mansion due to its historic brevity and location, but the property is currently used as an event venue.

What many don't understand about the mansion is its spotted past. In 1908, owner Duncan Cooper shot and killed Edward Carmack, the editor for the local newspaper that would eventually become known as, "The Tennessean." Although there are conflicting stories as to the reason for the deadly feud, it's considered by most that an article published by Carmack proved to be inflammatory.
The ghost of Alexander Porter's wife is also said to haunt the grounds. He was one of the earliest owners of the property, and many believe that after his untimely, early death his wife bound her spirit to the mansion.
The mansion and its surrounding grounds are utilized most often as an event venue, so it's doubtful you'll see an army of the supernatural wandering about during the day, but like any historical space, the mansion has a deep, dark history.
