This Nashville Restaurant Became A Local Legend By Perfecting Just One Food Item
This restaurant is more of a national, global legend, but we tend to think in small town terms and the Loveless Cafe will always be our local hero. It’s where children have grown up, hands sticky with jam and butter, their eyes lighting at the sight of a platter of crumbly biscuits. It’s where families have spent Saturday mornings, where couples have gone on dates, holding hands across the table. The Loveless Cafe is a place for people and family, the kind of restaurant where everyone is welcomed home.

The Loveless Cafe can be found on the southwestern edge of Nashville, Tennessee off of Highway 100. Whereas the location may feel a bit out of the way for city-dwellers, it's the hot meals and hospitality that keeps locals comin'.

Opened by Lon and Ann Loveless in 1951, the tiny eatery exploded into a Tennessee phenomenon by the 21st century. A humble beginning that focused on hospitality and good southern cooking has garnered awards and recognition from publications like USA Today, People magazine and the every-iconic Bon Appetit magazine.

Sure, you may have seen the cafe on television, but if you show up on any given Monday or Thursday you'll find the restaurant stuffed to the gills with locals. It's where you come to visit best friends and where you bring little ones, ready and raring for the prime menu item...biscuits!

Sure, the pancakes and fluffy eggs and perfectly crispy bacon is great (so is the ham!), but those biscuits are the real MVP's.

The recipe was created by Anne Loveless and remains top secret. Only biscuit bakers get to know the made-from-scratch biscuit secret, which means you can only get these puffy, bready, DREAMY delights here at the Loveless Cafe.

Thankfully, biscuits pair perfectly with everything from jam to gravy, so whether your cravings are salty and sweet you should be more than covered.

Have you been? Would you visit? Visit for yourself at 8400 TN-100 and make reservations if you can. Spots go fast, and you don't want to find yourself waiting too long! Your biscuits await.
Continue to experience the deep-rooted history of Tennessee with this strange story. It’s almost unbelievable, but it’s all true.
