This Historic Tennessee Train Depot Is Now A Beautiful Restaurant Right On The Tracks
Joining a fine group of dedicated locals, Burg’r and Barrel in Johnson City is looking to bring something special to a little corner of East Tennessee. With generations of experience this restaurant is merging the new and the old, history with a modern twist, all well serving up the community.
The group that currently runs Burg’r and Barrel consists of the third and fourth generations of the family that has been serving great food made from fine ingredients over the years.
The owner's great-grandparents started the journey that we are seeing passed down now to our day and age. With decades of experience from multiple generations, the newly renovated space was opened in 2022.
Johnson City has deep roots starting as a railroad town. The CC&O Railroad Station was built in 1908.
Although the train station no longer runs, the depot was saved from demolition. The station was added to the National Register of Historic Places and now has been transformed into an inviting outdoor space for this hip restaurant.
The outdoor space is certainly eye-catching on any given night.
Fire pits will be roaring, groups of friends will be gathered around playing corn hole, or you will find couples enjoying a date night out on the town. The whole vibe is fitting for Johnson City: relaxed, community-focused, and filled with Southern hospitality.
The menu is equally exciting, offering up delicious dishes. You know when your burger is served with a big food pick that you are in for a treat. Most of the burgers are made with a juicy half-pound beef patty, and every bite is filled with flavor.
